I tried Aquisition all day yesterday. A few months back I had tried a previous version and uninstalled it since it didn't seem to do anything. But yesterday I gave it another shot. Beautiful looking program. However... It still doesn't seem to do anything. I had 132 files pending from different sources, and yet there wasn't a single file that came my way. I think this is a bit suspect. It looks to me like you get a dummy list of files that gives you the impression that the entire world is up for grabs, but that no actual download is attempted. From a p2p programmers point of view, this would be clever because he may then earn money on the sales of his software without actually braking any piracy/copyright laws. I'm not saying that this is what is done here. But it certainly looks odd when you get that many hits and no downloads. In any case it seems like a waste of time and money to try it.

Does it even work? - ebow

Similar experience here. For example, I found a file available from 2 hosts, with reliability rated at 3 stars. Within 30 seconds of Acquisition finding it, I double-clicked to download. I then looked to see why it wasn't downloading, and the status said "Host(s) offline". Grrr. This happens *all the time.*
