Clearly you don't have TiVo - Jerry Kindall
The real question is, back when they were $50 each for dual-tuner Huges DirecTiVos, why WOULDN'T you buy as many as you could afford? ;)Wednesday, September 10 2003 @ 03:51 PM PDT
Agreed - Fofer
That's why I bought two of the same model, when they were free (after rebate.)Welcome to the TiVolution. :)

the question is... - audiokid
why TiVo and not Replay ;) I don't have Windows XP for a reason - my computer is not a center for poor, cartoonified interfaces running on equipment that needs dongles to do things. Thus, I have a Replay, with ethernet actually built into the box (duh) ... and no annoying little character holding my hand through my DVR.So I can watch my ReplayTV over the internet live streaming, can you do that with TiVo? I can watch my ReplayTV on my powerbook upstairs before bed, while it records something different, and someone else is watching a 3rd show on Replay - can TiVo do that? I didn't have to pay extra for the web features .... you get the point.

Tivo v Replay and more... - SPI...master...
Seeing that this thread started when garymm questioned my having 6 tivos...I had to jump back in here. Not only do I have 6 tivos (actually now 8) but also have 6 Replay 4500 Series (the ones that still skip commercials and have controls on the front panel). Its true that Replays have a bunch of nice features (true streaming instead of copying like in TivoHomeMedia, unlimited pause, commercial skip, DVArchive, etc)...but the Tivo is much more responsive and more pleasant to acutally use while jumping around channels, and casual TV watching. The remote control on the Tivo is far superior to even the newest model of the replay remote. So why have both? So you can enjoy the best of both worlds...

If you have 6 TV's, I can see having 6 TiVos. It's not just about recording shows. You can pause "live" TV and instant replay. With the Home Media Option, you can share shows between TiVos.If you had one, you'd understand. You'd immediately want one for each TV set.
