Everything this does can be done with the Finder, but Liaison was designed for what I think is a more common case: sharing files between friends and co-workers on a local network without having to mount/unmount, share passwords, or anything else like that. Just open Liaison and you're sharing, and will find other shared files on the local network. Drag-and-drop to copy, and you're done.
