Also, another thing to think about- how about an option under syncing the clock, that lets the user SPECIFY which device they want the other device to sync their clocks to- such as, say, a person might have the correct time on their Newton, BUT, say their Mac's PRAM battery went dead and they groggily got on their Mac to sync their Newton (including the time), but forgot to uncheck syncing the clock in the prefs or didn't realize that the death of their PRAM battery sent their computer back into believing that it's 4:31 am on November 26th, 1969, when it's really 6pm on February 26th, 2003. Then, their Newton's time would be jacked up if they sync the time on accident. Just mentioning something to consider.
