Robert - the otherwise risible HP driver for the G85 defaults to high quality. (It also used to ask for a default paper size, which OS X promptly over-rode.) But I didn't take a star off, because it was not hard to find where the setting was - and it got me more familiar with the wacky world of the OS X print thread. Thanks for the comments - and for the kick-ass driver! Bryan - heard of AirPort? (Ok, you'll need more kit - sorry not to be more constructive.)
