If you can handle a vi type enviroment then you should really chekc out the OSX port of VIM (http://macvim.swdev.org/OSX/). It is quite nice and can handle just about any file type you throw at it. Plus once you get the vi commands down you will be so much more productive you will not ever know how you lived with out it!
