I've been trying to use VLC (v0.4.4.) on SVCDs for some time now. On my 600 MHz iBook, 550 TiBook and 350 Sawtooth (w/Radeon), I cannot get most of the SVCDs to play without skipping. I ran the demo of MacVCD (with QTMPEG2), and it plays great without a hitch (although not as "pristine" on the iBook as the other two). I'm a VLC fan, but it's pokey. It will not play a DVD well on my iBook, for example. I hope VLC will get access to Apple code in the future to optimize it, but it's not 100% usable for me right now. I'm seriously thinking of getting this.
