You know, I first played this game several years ago and I was struck by the cool particle effects and glowing sprites. The gameplay is fun, and the game's interface feels pretty polished. The graphics and music are actually pretty good, and I think that they should charge whatever they want for it. Its sad when people get on a site like this and harshly criticize smaller developers with cool products like Meteor Storm. Ambrosia is still charging $15 for Maelstrom and its graphics haven't changed in nearly 10 years. Why don't you hassle them? Or better yet, how about you contribute to the Mac gaming scene and write your own game.
