I wanted to access my old 230 MB MO disks (all 60 of them!). I have a SCSI Pinnacle Tahoe optical drive (SCSI) and while my G3 (Mac OS 9.2.2) recognises the drive it wouldn't mount the disks. SCSIProbe works beautifully. Many thanks to Adaptec.
