LeonardShelby, I see you never saw a BeBox in action- that bastard put SGI machines to shame with two 603e processors all the way back in 1996. The BeBox also featured internal networking whereas a two player game could take place multi-threaded and without any slowdowns- on the same computer... I think you had to see it to believe it. It could play multiple QuickTime/video files multi-threaded to individual CPUs whereas there was no slowdown at all and sound played on all files concurrently... this was long before OS X. The OS was a breath a fresh air and well ahead of its time... I don't know about its screensavers, though...

True, I have never used a BeBox, and had only seen a video of them in action. I did, however, use the BeOS on Apple hardware (7500's and 9500's) and found it less than compelling. Not to mention that absolute dearth of software. Oh well, that is all long buried in the past along with Be itself.Reply to This
