I strongly disagree with you Jmontiero. You should never enable logging to this level in any product you widly distribute, beta or not. If you think this level of logging needs to be available to anyone who downloads it (to help you track down problems) then for gods sake make it OPTIONAL, and off by default. Just saying "its a beta" is NO excuse for such intentionally bad behavior of a program. Your users in general don't need the logging. Turn the logging on for your personal testing builds, but it should never be enabled by default on builds posted to versiontracker.
