The best real-time spyware protection I have used

Webroot Spy Sweeper is the only program out there other than Microsoft Antispyware that really has strong real-time protection. Ad-Aware and Spybot both do a great job of cleaning a system up, but neither does a very good job of preventing spyware infestations. With version 4.0, Spy Sweeper also runs correctly on multiple user accounts on Windows XP, even limited users! And unlike Microsoft Antispyware, Spy Sweeper 4.0 can sweep cookies. Cookie detection is also better than in Ad-Aware and other programs since it can differentiate between bad cookies and benign cookies. My only complaint is the lack of spyware protection for alternative browsers like Firefox.

I have Spybot S & D, Ad-Aware SE, Spy Sweeper, and Microsoft AntiSpyware Beta Spyware Blaster and SpyAudit and the 2 Webroot products work the best; Spy Sweeper and SpyAudit along with Microsoft AntiSpyware BETA!!!

This software works great. It finds a whole lot more adware and spyware than the competition. And yes, although it does cost some money, it is well worth it. I look at it this way... At least if they are sure to make some money, they can have a qualified staff always updating the definitions. Would you stick with free anti-virus software? Heck no. Its just not reliable enough.
Why pay for something that's no better than a couple free ones!!??

The ONLY reason that Webroot has any kind of notice is because they pay off all the Radio Tech Talk show whores to promote it. Adaware and Spybot Search and Destroy does that EXACT SAME protection and they're for FREE!

I work in an IT Dept. of 25 techs and more than 5000 nodes (computers). We tested all of the Spyware apps and Webroot Spy Sweeper did NOTHING MORE to find Ad Ware that ADAWARE or Spybot Search and Destroy!!!

SpyBot Search and Destroy wiill do everything and more (including a resident interceptor that catches spyware on the fly) than Webroot will, and it's totally free including updates. Need some insurance? Then ad FREE Adaware to your arsenal.
