MacDrive ReviewWas Great, until thay added activation. - Version: 7.0.10, 2/29/2008 06:46AM PST

It does what it says and it does it well, and I'd suggest you buy it if it weren't for the activation. That for me just kills it. Fans of Bootcamp and Fusion/Parallels will attest to the annoyance of multiple Vista/XP activations when using BC and a VM. Well, it's the same multiple activation issues with MacDrive as well. In fact, after I got MacDrive authorized on BC and Fusion I later went back into BC and found it STILL needed activated. At this point I uninstalled MacDrive.

Do yourself a favor and for pass on this software. Instead, open up your Mac to full NTFS support with "NTFS for Mac OS X". It works, you do nothing except run an installer and I've had no conflicts or noticable slow-downs.

No, I don't work for them. I just own their software and am very pleased.

MacDrive ReviewCopied 30 GB, No Problems - Version: 7.0.10, 9/21/2007 01:54PM PST

I used this software in trial version to hook my Mac HFS+ FireWire800 drive to my Dell work laptop so I could transfer my music library. I had to use a FW800 to FW400 cable with a 6 to 4 pin adapter as Dell hasn't really embraced FireWire yet :) I wanted to say in my review that everything worked perfectly. Detractors for this software are 1) Price, and 2) Pop-up Nags. I haven't tried to uninstall it yet, so maybe that's hard too. If it was $15 I would buy a copy, but I think I'll figure something else out at the price they're asking. Software like this on the Mac is usually Shareware.

MacDrive ReviewMacdrive Comments/Review - Version: 6.1.5, 3/5/2007 06:22PM PST

I have been using this product for well over 2 years now. When I bought my first ipod (5GB Model), I was using an old powerbook from my job that I kept my music on.

I also kep the same music collection synced on my PC when itunes for windows came out.

I recently relocated to the bay area, I lost my powermac at my last job, but I still had music on my ipod. Plus I had 2 Firewire disc drives that had all my graphics files on.

Macdrive worked as advertised. Yes there were those periodic times when the firewire connection would time out with the older versions of macdrive (Version 5 ESP) but since ver 6 came out, no problems.

I just upgraded to version 7 (7.0.2) so far, so good.
