TightVNC ReviewWindows To Mac Works Well - Version: 1.3.9, 7/19/2007 03:57PM PST

markmerchant@mac.com
I have tried a variety of VNC viewers to connect between Windows and the Mac OS-X, but most have unbearably slow screen redraw. Others add insult to injury by failing with 90 percent of the Mac's screen resolutions.

TightVNC worked very well when connecting between a Windows XP Home laptop to a Mac running 10.3.9 and 10.4 over a VPN connection no less. Best of all it worked in nearly real-time. I was impressed to say the less. I was pleased as was my customer who had not other vendor who could connect to them via Windows.

There is about a 1-5 second time lag between the remote system and the local machine over a fast LAN, but that was much improved over ANY other VNC client and no worse than many commercial products.

I would give it a 9 out of 10.
