Instant File Name Search ReviewIt's okay, but I'm not wild about it - Version: 1.4, 1/23/2006 01:16PM PST

I was looking for a Windows program that would offer features similar to Apple's Spotlight feature or QuickSilver (a Spotlight-like program also for Mac OS X). This is not that program. While it's indexing and searches are lightning quick (much better than the built-in Windows search), it's interface isn't terribly friendly or intuitive (or pretty, for that matter), and it's results include way too much junk. For example, my search for 'Route 66' turned up icon files and DLL files. What they have to do with Route 66 I'll never know, but it sure wasn't relevant to the file(s) I was looking for. You can tell it what extensions to avoid, but it's A) a pain to think of all the useless extensions you want to avoid, and B) requires you to reindex afterward.

Maybe this is a step towards a better program, and if so, this is a good start. But it's just not quite ready for me to use all the time yet.
