Skype Troubleshooting ReportWill not install to XP Win32 - Version: 3.6.0.216, 12/11/2007 10:37AM PST

This version will not install to my less than one year old Gateway Media laptop, with XP fully updated. The instant message says this SKYPE is NOT a valid win32 app. Tech support will not respond to the issue. It does install on my Apple.

Skype CommentaryPlug-in 'Ringjacker' - Version: 3.0.0.209, 1/31/2007 08:30AM PST

As a joke I went to download the Ringjacker, I was warned that this wasn't supported by Skype, but decided to anyway. It is supposed to change the ringtone of the receiving mobile phone, as a joke with a selection of imput ring-tones. But don't download it, it doesn't work and you'll find a line error when you boot up your computer. I've tried to get it out with search and destroy, but its there again when I boot up.

Skype CommentaryPassword for previous ver not working - Version: 1.4.0.84, 11/27/2005 01:32PM PST

I and two other users have had our password from previous versions not working after update. One could request new password by email, one did not have a reported email and a complete uninstall and new install did not solve the problem. Skype will not connect.

My own trouble was solved by me connecting through my Mac version and changing the password and then using that in my OS XP. It also seemed that Skype after update had disconnected my broadband but that reset itself after a restart.

I've really enjoyed using Skype. It usually has quite good quality (sometimes clearer than regular long distance calls) and has the best price... free! It's brilliant if you want to be able to chat with people in other countries or keep in touh with friends and family for free.

A must have.

This is an excellent Peer2Peer VoIP system, I've even been able to get skype working in linux.
Skype has great features like SkypeOut (Make outgoing phone calls to landline phones for a cost), SkypeIn BETA (Have a landline phone number), Skype VoiceMail (Answer service that comes free with SkypeIn BETA) and finally Skype Zones BETA for an extra price it allows you to use Skype when wirelessly connected to a Boingo compatible Wireless Access Point via a laptop or pda. Skype also uses encryption for secure phone calls, text chat and file transfer.

Skype ReviewIt's getting to be a must have! - Version: 1.1.0.73, 1/27/2005 06:50PM PST

It’s great, but that’s not enough. We use it to call from New Zealand to Asia & Russia with no problems at all. 2 things have made a huge difference, changing from a headset & mike to a phone and the improvements with the new versions released by Skype. There are toms of Skype devices from straight USB phones, to USB adapters to use your normal everyday phone and the latest are dualphones specifically designed for Skype and the PSTN. Have a look @ www.wts.co.nz for some further information.

Skype ReviewSkype works great so far - Version: 0.98.0.28, 6/20/2004 07:53AM PST

writergrrrl
I've used Skype to set up my different clients across the US so they can call me for free - and friends out of the country. It is for sure saving me a bundle on long distance charges!

Once in awhile, if the connection is slow on one end, the voice breaks up and one person can't hear well. So I would not use this tool yet for critical clients.

I hope they expand to a Linux version soon, however.
