Burn4Free CommentaryCNET/TechTracker unacceptable practices i.e. promoting garbage. - Version: 3.8.0.0, 11/29/2007 11:36PM PST

Chuck Gubler (Sr)
THIS IS UNBELIEVABLE! How can two sepererate organizations, CNET and Version/Tech-Tracker that only 5 years ago, independantly, BOASTED of their respective Users allegence and satisfactioin. Only to sit on thier butts and watch that support get eroded, by progressively higher and higher fees while at the same time delivering slopier and slopier product, to the point of UN-usabelity. Then crown the whole process by merging so they could both be twice as bad.

I supported the merger hoping that a consolidation of resources and talent might reverse the downward trend yielding a recovery back in the positive direction. The best I can say is that I and my peers were way too optimistic in our assumptions. ... WELL FRIENDS I NOW HAVE TO RETRACT ALL SUPPORT MONITIARILY AS WELL AS ANY OTHER FORM!!

Since 1985 untill just recently I supported the Engeneering Computing Desktop for all of Honeywell International. That is, in round numbers, 130,000 desktop computers including Windows, Apple OS-9/X, DEC VMS and Sun Unix/Solaris. These two entities have been relied upon to provide expertise, user as well as "Editor" expertise and technical usability and performance information, for more software and systems than a single support group (i.e. Honewell IT) could provide adaquately on their own.

SAD TO SAY ... I, AND MY COMPARIOTS AT HONEYWELL PERSONALLY FIND THIS WHOLE OUTCOME UNACCEPTABLE AND EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATE WITHDRAW FROM ANY AND ALL USE OF, OR RECOMMENDATIONS TO USE, WITHIN THE ENTIRE HONEYWELL CORPORATION.

A COPY OF THIS POSTING IS BEING ATTACHED TO OUR FORMAL SUPPORT RECOMENDATIONS TO THE HONEYWELL MANAGEMENT IN MORRISTOWN, NEW JERSY.

Burn4Free ReviewExtremely Badware Packed - Version: 2.6.0.0, 9/23/2006 04:10PM PST

I am suprised the site owners allow this infected garbage on the site. I ran it in a sandbox, it installed a few "badwares" to start with, then those badwares downloaded even more. Over a 24 hour period the sandbox became infected with 32 peices of adware, malware, spyware, keyloggers and trojans. It tried to transmit information, as did the badware it installed.

Even without the fact that this software is a farce, if it was actually freeware, it works horribly, and looks even worse.

This sad attempt at illegal profit needs to be removed, and this web site can be held liable for promoting it as "freeware".

Time to get some new catagories and update the site, admins. I would never spend money on a site misrepresenting and promoting malware.

This site is more interested in serving adverts and tracking than updating it's catagories to properly reflect the software it lists.

Version tracker is a farce and a liability at this point, allowing bad software to infect machines, and misrepresenting downloads to garner clicks.
