Win Patrol works!

Happy to say that this program does a lot more than I thought it would and even a neolithic man like me can use it. Within 20 minutes of installation it had removed a load of crap programs from my start up (both malicious and defunct) improving my PC performance along the way. Great stuff and wish I'd had it 6 months ago.
Must Have Software

Would recommend install WinPatrol on every computer if you want to protect it from malicious attack.

This program is for maybe more advanced users...it lets you choose which things looks supicious and disable them...for me, this is not ideal because I need a program to TELL me what is suspicious and what is malware or spyware. I guess if you know exactly waht you are doing, it could be helpful.
Very Good & Easy to Use

I am using it on Windows XP on Virtual PC. As far as I can tell it is coexisting with McAfee Viruscan on at the same time. One possible glitch is that with Privacy settings in IE 6 set to medium, my web browsing is much slower with Cookies monitering on in WinPatrol. It seems to me that with IE having its own Cookies monitering feature that it might conflict with WP cookie monitering. But then again the difference in web browsing speed may have been coincidental. I also turned off a few other features in XP to speed it up. Regardless, I like WinPatrol. The WinPatrol Plus database helped me identify a silly ad program added to my startup items & even a control button by AOL AIM. The WinPatrol Plus features gave me the few steps needed to get rid of that adware and it is gone.
