Beyond Compare ReviewA "must have" utility - Version: 2.5.2 Build 252, 2/8/2008 12:00AM PST

Nothing beats this application for reconciling the differences between two directories. You can do a quick size and date comparison or a more thorough binary comparison. You can have it show you only the files that are different.
Furthermore, it has a great filter system which allows you to ignore certain files or directories. This is especially nice when you have a lot of hidden directories (e.g. .svn) that you don't care about.
For text files, you can view the differences side by side and even copy lines from one side to the other for merging.
I use this for backing up files from my computer to an external drive which goes between work and home.

One of the real beauties of this application is that, if you determine one file or directory needs to be copied over to the other side, you can immediately dispatch it and have it copied at once. Because you (typically) only display file differences, this difference immediately disappears and makes sorting out the rest cleaner and easier. This is fantastic for large, complex merges. It makes it as easy as possible.

This application has a lot of bells and whistles yet is very intuitive and easy to us. I couldn't live without it. I only wish they had a version for the Mac; I can't find anything this good for the Mac platform.

Beyond Compare is among top 5 most useful software I ever used. Clean interface, easy of use, good session manager, works with local, network and even ftp files. Every developer should at least try this great software.

I've tried several comparing utility before ordering Beyond Compare. Overall experience is simply unbeatable.

Highly recommended and thanks to developers.

And add me to the list for OS X version.

Beyond Compare ReviewIndispensable - Version: 2.4.3.2.4.3, 7/28/2007 02:23PM PST

Amazing piece of software. I use it daily to manage code on my local machine and my server. Its FTP capabilities could be faster -- it seems to stall sometimes when it's trying to read remote files -- but really there's no other piece of software out there that comes close to doing what BC does.

And add me to the list of Mac switchers who dearly miss BC. I’ve taken to running Parallels in a second display in full-screen mode, but really the only reason I do this is for Beyond Compare.

I’m off to the Scooter website to ask politely for a port. I would buy it in a heartbeat.
