AVG Anti-Virus Free Edition ReviewAVG 8.0.1x "free" SUCKS now, Constant Crashes during manual scans ... - Version: 8.0.138a1332, 7/16/2008 09:46PM PST

You know, this used to be a great AVG and free to boot. Now they've really fracked it up somehow, maybe because it's become bloatware with too many cutsy features. For us, it consistently crashes EVERY TIME we did a manual system scan on four different XP SP2 PCs (after that we didn't dare try it on our 10 Vista PCs)

We've switched to Avast Free on notebooks and the new McAfee suite on our workstations (NEVER any problems with either)

Adios AVG, you were good once, not RIP.

AVG Anti-Virus Free Edition ReviewDoes *Not* work for Windows Me, as stated - Version: 8.0.101a1327, 6/28/2008 12:28PM PST

I've sworn by this product and used licensed and free, unlicensed versions since I found it years ago. Now, I need to use my older laptop which can only run Windows ME, due to limitations. Ir's a great laptop. Why waste it? Plus I can't afford another. Sorry for the soliloquy. Point is, Even though the web download page on this site says it works for versions as low as Windows 98, it definitely will *not* install on Windows ME.
I knew 8.0 was like this when it came out, but I had stupid faith that they would release a version that did work for us other guys. Hence the listing on Version Trakker - I thought. Well, no such luck. Time to forget about my old friend AVG and move to a company that believes in the environmental ethics of supporting older equipment, helping keep it out of landfills and dumps before its time. Thanks.

On the AVG site it says: "AVG Anti-Virus Free Edition 8.0"

Don't believe the BS Artists below, it's free and one dope is right, 7.5 is expiring!
