Issues/Problems with GeForce 5200 Graphics Card? - Version: 9.0c, 8/15/2004 05:14AM PST

There seem to be problems with my installed GeForce 5200 and/or the AMD Athlon processor on my old PC (Win98SE. Ahlon XP 1.1GHz) and this new release of "DirecTX 9.0c".
All "DirectX'-based games crash big time; they played normal with "DirectX 8.x" and before I replaced the graphics card (which -ironically- states it supports "DirectX 9"). All "DirectX" diagnostic tests went fine but any of the games reboot the computer or 'freeze' with bizarre patterns on the monitor crawling from bottom to top....Strange!

This is exactly the same as the installation you have. the reason it's only 200 odd K in size is because it's a web installer. Once downloaded and run, it opens a connection to the main servers hosting DirectX 9.0b then downloads the things you want installed. There is no point for you to download this file.
DIRECTX 9.0B WITH EXTRAS 130MB!! - Version: 9.0b, 10/3/2003 03:01PM PST

I was at the microsoft site and was told by a game to upgrade to directx 9.0b. For some reason, I downloaded and installed a version of directx 9.0b with all the extras totaling 132mb of files!! What should I do? Can I download your 9.0b directx version and install it? Will it overwrite my large unnecessary package I installed? I feel like I downloaded a version which is wasting hard drive space, when all I needed was your smaller 9.0b directx version!! Please advise me. I can not uninstall my larger version? Thank you very much.
Sincerely,
Miles mesmd@earthlink.net

I installed this July 24th, so it must have just hit VersionTracker. I didn't see much difference between this and the prior version of DirectX, but then again I update constantly so it wasn't a big jump for me. BTW using WinXP and Nvidia graphics cards.
I hate Microsoft…

in just about every form there is but I have nothing against DirectX 8.1. It works fine, is speedy and works for all the programs I have. Download speed was 160KB/sec off a cable modem and took 1 minute. Not real speed but quick enough!
Anyway, its just a web based installer, not the full package.
