Can anyone tell me if version updates cost the owner/user of the Office package and charge for the updates?

VersionTracker detects the correct version on my system and tells me there is a newer version available. When I click "Download" on the web site, it takes me to a link on Microsofts site that allows me to buy a trial CD. I don't understand the correlation...Does the trial CD contain a newer buil number than the consumer release?
