Product Description:

LiveUpdate permits an installed Symantec product to connect to a Symantec server automatically for program and virus definitions updates. LiveUpdate connects through either a preset telephone number or an FTP site; however, two issues have arisen at corporate sites:

High network traffic: Administrators want to reduce external traffic by having users download from an internal site.

Firewall issues: LiveUpdate establishes an FTP connection to a Symantec server. In some cases, this implementation requires modification to firewall software.

What's new in this version:

Supports Windows 2000, Windows XP, Windows 2003, and Windows Vista only.
Contains various logging and diagnostic enhancements.
Does not support Windows 98 or Windows Me.
Does not support the LiveUpdate Administrator server version 1.5.4.15.
