Norton Internet Security ReviewSymantec should be utterly and totally ashamed - Version: 7.0.3.8, 12/9/2004 04:47AM PST

Do you want to join a lawsuit against the creators of the very fragile Windoze OS? And easily breakable Sickmantek?

Send me an email with your story? (Below)

Here is mine…
This a recent email to a fellow veteran computer consultant…

“Why are you up this late? Mac guys aren't usually up like this so you must be playing a game?

The only reason I am up this early in the morning is to work on one of my Mac clients who has a pc to hook up to medical services billing...
After several weeks of doing machines like this... This is the last one... Each time you install then update service packs it crashes... Then you can't repair cause the repair floppy you took time to make doesn't work... Then you just go with a base system and the video driver crashes the whole config file and you reinstall... Then if you install Norton of any year or version you find it often crashes and you start in safe mode and then uninstall but the uninstall doesn't work and so you go into the registry and delete the refs to it and then it restarts and tells you there is a vxd file that can't be found... Well of course it can't I deleted it... And then in the hidden files of the computer there are still folders from Symantec that won't allow you to reinstall or install a newer version... Often you have to install it and reUNinstall it again... Downloading a further uninstall tool from their web site then you are supposed to download a Windoze registry patch to fix whatever damage Symantec did then you find that damages other stuff and you wonder why do these people not buy Macs???? Kind of like being a Christian and wondering why on earth all these people around here can't see it... Try Christ... Trust Christ allow Christ to come into your life... The grass is greener the sky is bluer guilt is gone, fears will be removed as you surrender to His peace and promises... And yet....
Still people continue to live beneath their privilege... Makes one wonder but the analogy is powerful...
Windows is a fragile and weak operating system... Microsoft and Symantec both should be utterly ashamed and yet we find no conscience at all
Only thousands and thousands of reference pages on how you can fix the problems they cause with shoddy Os and software and they suck the life out of our economies and meanwhile the Mac people keep on going...
I just installed the service pack 4 finally and now it tells me in a blue screen of death that a config file can't be found and there is an error in the software...
Care to join me in a class action lawsuit...
I don't like legal matters at all I hate all this modern attitude whole mentality of suing...
BUT I TELL YOU after dealing with this stuff I am sure I could easily get millions on board...
From all web sites dedicated to this stuff I am sure we could find many ...
I can reproduce this in front of any judge...
Exactly how if you load almost any security patch or update you will crash their own Os...
Nope won't boot in safe mode
Nope won't boot in safe mode with prompt.
Can't read the new blue screen because it goes away in seconds...
You wouldn't believe it if I showed you... It is so pathetic... I can see why people are making viruses and all the rest to expose what a terrible, horrifyingly wasteful, keystroke heavy, carpal tunnel disease creating, and time sucking system it is...

I feel bad as a consultant charging people for this ---in fact over all these years I don't think I made money on any Windoze unmachine that I have worked on.... Any it person worth his salt with a conscience of even the tiniest size should warm people not to use them if they really love their customers… but then I have never once heard a windoze person say they loved their Pieces of c or even that they like them… they are simply users. But I hear Mac people tell me all the time “I love my Mac, I love my ipod, “I love my ibook” says one film location person and soon all her colleagues came and bought ibooks… and it just goes on and on about as positive a story as working on Windoze dos mil or any other windoze… with Gates and windoze who needs doors? Someone should cement microhard right up solid because it is a toxic waste to our society. They are a bane to society... Government should take action to outlaw these companies from functioning...
and I haven't even told you about
How windoze browser can be hijacked!
You download spyware to find it cleans some off and installs its own.
And just try to get rid of 'about_blank” as your startup page if you get it.

And then I neglected to tell you of
Haven't once been able to use any of the emergency floppies created by their own systems!!!!
This is sick but then you know that
you work with Macs
How I thank God every morning I have a Mac!”

Norton Internet Security CommentaryNorton is a Rip Off !! - Version: 7.0.3.8, 11/13/2004 09:53AM PST

Do Not Buy Norton Products that offer a rebate. They will rip you off EVERY TIME and there is no way to get a hold of them. They just refuse it and then give you some excuse that you didn't send in the right information. I even scanned all the info before I sent it to them (as they ask for all the originals, receipts, disks, etc) and when they rejected my rebate because I didn't send in the disk, I sent them a color copy (along side my receipt, UBC code, etc, that I had scanned) and they still refused my rebate. No live person to talk to.. just a card in the mail telling me to resubmit but I couldn't because they have all my originals and when I sent them a color scan of what I sent in they still refused me..
THIS COMPANY SUCKS !!! DO YOU HEAR ME NORTON.. I WILL GIVE YOU THE NEGATIVE REVIEWS YOU DESERVE EVERYWHERE I CAN becuase you dirty @#%@%@#$'s ripped me off for a lousy $30.00 for the last time (yes there have been other times, that is why I was so careful, followed the directions to a "T" and color scanned everything (in a group shot) before I sent it to them.. and they STILL RIPPED ME OFF.
YOU SUCK BIGTIME !!!

Norton Antivirus, predated by only by McAfee & several extinct others, has been and will remain one of the two most stable, effective, updated, and complete choices for PC virus protection. I've read multiple snivels about its size, resource consumption, and price. It's big because it needs to be. It needs resources because it does a more in-depth and thorough job than ever before, and is designed for modern systems, not your PII MMX running Windows 98 with 64MB of RAM. And it's expensive because the research, developement, testing, and updates that make it a superior product cost money, which is the same reason it's lesser competitors are, in fact, lesser. Combined with the suite of protections included in Norton Internet Security, it's the best you can buy for a home PC.

As for spin-off comments regarding Windows XP security issues, again I refer to the history of the author-company, the cost of producing a superior product, and a seemingly unknown feature called Windows Update for security complaints as they arise.

If you're too cheap to pay-up for the big boys, or the hardware to run `em, just say so; don't bash them. If they are so bad, explain their sales numbers, (without referring to unsubstantiated conspiracy theories, if possible).
