Product Description:

Sudoku is a logical puzzle game, originally created in puzzle books and then made available in countless newspapers worldwide. The grid is 9 cells high by 9 cells wide and within the grid are 9 boxes each featuring 9 cells. The object is to fill in the numbers 1-9 in each row, column and box, but they must only appear in each one once.

Astraware Sudoku is suitable for players of all abilities and features include 6 levels of difficulty, pencilmarks in a choice of styles, optional completion and tracking of pencilmarks, a unique and innovative notepad which enables players to make handwritten notes and sketches overlaid upon the grid, and an advanced hint system to assist you by highlighting areas where progress can be made without giving away the answer.

What's new in this version:

A new type of assistance - Hold and Highlight which allows you to highlight a specific number or pencilmark. On touchscreen devices tap and hold the number or pencilmark in the side or bottom bars. On devices with QWERTY keyboards press P then the number for pencilmark or O then the number for numbers.
A Puzzle Manager. Following requests from existing users, our extensive new Puzzle Manager allows players to select a specific puzzle to play, or delete puzzles they've already completed.
Full screen support for Windows Mobile® Standard (Smartphone) devices with QVGA Landscape displays.
Full screen support for Palm OS® devices with hi-res+ displays (320x480 and 480x320).
Additional language support - Astraware Sudoku now includes Brazilian Portuguese alongside English, French, German, Italian, and Spanish.

I did some research and then decided to install Astraware. Not having compared it to any of the competition, I didn't really know what to expect, but it fulfilled what I had hoped. Very intuitive, nice interface, I don't feel that I need to try any others, I am happy.

Version Tracker lists the price as $9.99, but when I went to register it, I found the price was $19.99.

I've tried many computer and handheld attempts at this game, and this is easily the best I've come across. Great interface, graphics, sound effects Very versatile - games can be downloaded, hand entered, or created on the fly by the program. Great effort for a 1.0 version.
