SplashID for Palm OS ReviewGreat features BUT synchronisation faulty - Version: 3.22, 2/16/2005 03:18AM PST

SplashID v3.22 fares well when comparing features to other secure storages, e.g. YAPS (which encrypted files cannot currently be viewed on Mac; only PC - but its freeware). Blowfish 256 is fast and secure. But what happened to the synchronisation between desktop and Palm. It's a disappointing jumble more reminiscent of a beta version than a full software. See the description of the problem and think about whether you want to trade the many features of SplashID against difficulties in syncing with your desktop.

PROBLEM: Synchronisation not both ways as claimed

Type changes made on desktop are not synced to Palm. E.g. a category deleted on the desktop will reappear after hotsync. The only way is to delete it on the Palm. The same happens if you edit a type on the desktop. It will revert to Palm settings on sync.

UNWANTED SIDE EFFECT: Entries duplicated

Change a type on the Palm and all entries belonging to this type will be duplicated upon synchronisation.

VERSIONS:
SplashID 3.22
PalmOS 4.0
Mac 10.3.8
HotSync Manager 3.2

SETTINGS:
synchronise both ways

I use Splash ID almost every day - both on my Mac and on my Palm. A very well thought out app. The addition of a password generator has proved really convenient and useful. Keep it up! And please continue to support the Mac platform.

SplashID for Palm OS ReviewSplash ID is terrific! - Version: 3.05, 3/31/2004 11:51AM PST

I have been using Spalsh ID for some time now and it is an indispensable part of both my Plam software and my Mac software. I use it all the time to store passwords for web pages, bank accounts, etc. I understand that I can do the same with Keychain in Mac OS X but I wouldn't have the portability of Splash ID. I also really like all the other Splash Wallet apps, especially Splash Photo. A great product with great Mac support.
