Product Description:

  • CDFinder is a fast and powerful disk cataloger tool that catalogs almost anything that spins, hard disks, DVDs, CD-ROMs, ZIP disks, server volumes, or even Audio-CDs and the iPod.
  • Catalog data can be shared in a network for multiple users.
  • Together with the separate CDWinder for Windows, data can even be shared cross-platform!
  • Save a lot of time by importing existing Disk Recall, Disk Wizard, Iomega FindIt, Disk Tracker, and CatFinder catalog files.
  • CDFinder can handle large amounts of data
  • Powerful Find functions allow data mining.
  • CDFinder reads StuffIt, Compact Pro, ZIP, and even Apple Installer (Tome) archive files.
  • CDFinder reads and searches a range of MP3 tags, along with additional information about multiple types of sound files.
  • Multilingual, seven languages in one application: English, German, French, Italian, Swedish, Spanish, and even Chinese.
  • Easy Setup Assistant helps first time users to set up CDFinder

What's new in this version:

  • New "Export to HTML" AppleScript to export catalog info into a HTML file.
  • Fixed the missing volume icon issue in Jaguar (Mac OS X 10.2). That is a bug from Apple, as they no longer return the "icl8" icon type...
  • Fixed the wrong volume types in Jaguar (which caused CDFinder to be unable to catalogue Audio-CDs in Jaguar, among others...). That is a bug from Apple as they have changed again the volume signature bytes...
  • Fixed some problems with reading Disk Recall catalog that contains "folder catalog" data.
  • AppleScript command "create catalog of" can now put new catalogs into folders.

CDFinder ReviewWorks perfectly - Version: 5.5, 1/29/2009 06:44AM PST

welcome--2008
I must say I'm very impressed. I thought Virtual Machines weren't recognized (cf. my previous post) but it was only a matter of deactivating an option in the preferences. I therefore correct my evaluation: this app rocks by all means and it undoubtedly deserves 5 stars. Also the developper's response is terrific.

CDFinder ReviewNo Virtual Machines recognition? - Version: 5.5, 1/29/2009 05:23AM PST

welcome--2008
I'm evaluating CDFinder 5.5 and I'm quite disapointed about one thing: it doesn't recognize virtual machines from Parallels or VMWare Fusion. Instead, the catalogue says the folder size containing the virtual machine is 0 Bytes, which means you have to calculate these sizes manually! Not very practical and quite annoying, because CDFinder is otherwise great. Hope the author finds a fix.
