Product Description:

  • CDFinder is a fast and powerful disk cataloger tool that catalogs almost anything that spins, hard disks, DVDs, CD-ROMs, ZIP disks, server volumes, or even Audio-CDs and the iPod.
  • Catalog data can be shared in a network for multiple users.
  • Together with the separate CDWinder for Windows, data can even be shared cross-platform!
  • Save a lot of time by importing existing Disk Recall, Disk Wizard, Iomega FindIt, Disk Tracker, Catalogue, and CatFinder catalog files.
  • CDFinder can handle large amounts of data
  • Powerful Find functions allow data mining.
  • CDFinder reads StuffIt, Compact Pro, ZIP, TAR, .rar, and even Apple Installer (Tome) archive files.
  • CDFinder reads and searches a range of MP3 tags, along with additional information about multiple types of sound files.
  • Multilingual, eight languages in one application: English, German, French, Italian, Swedish, Spanish, Dutch, and even Chinese.
  • Easy Setup Assistant helps first time users to set up CDFinder.

What's new in this version:

  • Adds support to read the Lyrics data from iTunes 6 for both MP3 and AAC (.m4a, .m4b, .m4p) formats
  • Adds the ability to directly import Disk Tracker 2.x catalog files
  • Adds support for the Apple Mighty Mouse: Scrolling by the mouse ball is now possible in both directions. The same is true for Logitech mice with a tilt-able scroll wheel
  • Improves visuals, more controls are now fully Aqua compliant, and most messages now use the standard message window of Mac OS X
  • Deletion of catalog items is up to three times faster than before
  • Adds "Flash-Drive" as a possible volume type in the catalogs Get Info window
  • Much improved French translation by Hervé Bismuth!
  • Fixes a problem when cataloging Audio-CDs. Sometimes, one or a few tracks of any given CD were not detected properly as music tracks, but as data tracks
  • Fixes a problem with some Contextual Menus inside CDFinder that failed to work while the Inspector window was open
  • Fixes a problem of iTunes 6, where the CD titles were stored incorrectly in the old "Remote Database"
  • Fixes a little quirk where the date of catalogs was shown incorrectly in the Inspector
  • Fixes a little problem with shrinking window sizes of catalog windows
  • Fixes a problem where CDFinder could hang if the Inspector window was partially outside the main screen
  • Fixes a problem where CDFinder would never shrink the size of a catalog file, even after items were deleted from it
  • Fixes a potential crash when CDFinder failed to locate a catalog file
  • Fixes a problem where the main window could partially disappear underneath the menu bar. That was due to the toolbar, and the way that CDFinder calculated positions
  • As always, a couple of other minor issues has been solved

CDFinder ReviewWorks perfectly - Version: 5.5, 1/29/2009 06:44AM PST

welcome--2008
I must say I'm very impressed. I thought Virtual Machines weren't recognized (cf. my previous post) but it was only a matter of deactivating an option in the preferences. I therefore correct my evaluation: this app rocks by all means and it undoubtedly deserves 5 stars. Also the developper's response is terrific.

CDFinder ReviewNo Virtual Machines recognition? - Version: 5.5, 1/29/2009 05:23AM PST

welcome--2008
I'm evaluating CDFinder 5.5 and I'm quite disapointed about one thing: it doesn't recognize virtual machines from Parallels or VMWare Fusion. Instead, the catalogue says the folder size containing the virtual machine is 0 Bytes, which means you have to calculate these sizes manually! Not very practical and quite annoying, because CDFinder is otherwise great. Hope the author finds a fix.
