Product Description:

  • CDFinder is a fast and powerful disk cataloger tool that catalogs almost anything that spins, hard disks, DVDs, CD-ROMs, ZIP disks, server volumes, or even Audio-CDs and the iPod.
  • Catalog data can be shared in a network for multiple users.
  • Together with the separate CDWinder for Windows, data can even be shared cross-platform!
  • Save a lot of time by importing existing Disk Recall, Disk Wizard, Iomega FindIt, Disk Tracker, Catalogue, and CatFinder catalog files.
  • CDFinder can handle large amounts of data
  • Powerful Find functions allow data mining.
  • CDFinder reads StuffIt, Compact Pro, ZIP, TAR, and even Apple Installer (Tome) archive files.
  • CDFinder reads and searches a range of MP3 tags, along with additional information about multiple types of sound files.
  • Multilingual, eight languages in one application: English, German, French, Italian, Swedish, Spanish, Dutch, and even Chinese.
  • Easy Setup Assistant helps first time users to set up CDFinder.

What's new in this version:

  • CDFinder now supports "Path Finder" in Mac OS X. You can drag any volume or folder from Path Finder into CDFinder to catalogue them, and CDFinder will use Path Finder to reveal items.
  • A couple of problems saving catalog files on Windows file server have been resolved. CDFinder now also detects changes to catalog files better and more reliable. For network users, this update is very recommended.
  • Exporting as been improved, and adds another date format (ISO 8601)
  • Import of CatFinder catalog files now works for the newer files generated by CatFinder 2.5 and above.
  • New option "Save window positions into catalogs" allows you to turn that off. That is useful for network setups, and makes backups easier.
  • The error message windows have been improved.
  • As usual, a couple of other minor issues has been solved.

CDFinder ReviewWorks perfectly - Version: 5.5, 1/29/2009 06:44AM PST

welcome--2008
I must say I'm very impressed. I thought Virtual Machines weren't recognized (cf. my previous post) but it was only a matter of deactivating an option in the preferences. I therefore correct my evaluation: this app rocks by all means and it undoubtedly deserves 5 stars. Also the developper's response is terrific.

CDFinder ReviewNo Virtual Machines recognition? - Version: 5.5, 1/29/2009 05:23AM PST

welcome--2008
I'm evaluating CDFinder 5.5 and I'm quite disapointed about one thing: it doesn't recognize virtual machines from Parallels or VMWare Fusion. Instead, the catalogue says the folder size containing the virtual machine is 0 Bytes, which means you have to calculate these sizes manually! Not very practical and quite annoying, because CDFinder is otherwise great. Hope the author finds a fix.
