What's new in this version:

  • CDFinder now supports Elgato EyeTV recordings (.eyetv). CDFinder will show the thumbnail for the recording, and also important metadata as well, such as the EPG description, director, actors, and much more. All that is cataloged, displayed, and can of course be searched as well
  • The GeoFinder inside CDFinder now uses the street-level OpenStreetMap for the GPS search (requires 10.5 or newer)! That is much nicer than the built-in map, but since it requires Internet access, the old map is still available. Many thanks to Dirk Stichling!
  • New CoverPrint templates: one for US-Letter format Avery 5692 labels, and one more for the HP Photosmart Direct Print. Thanks a lot to Deneen Winchester-Ristow and David Robinson for their incredible help on this!
  • Double clicking a found item coming from iPhoto will now show this item in iPhoto. There is also a contextual menu command for this, too. You can get iPhoto results by using the GeoFinder, and asking it to search the iPhoto 8 database, too
  • Expanded the URL handler. They now also offer:
  • Improved the DiskTracker catalog importer, it will now read and store the ItemNote fields, too
  • Size display of large values in the Inspector is now easier to read, and localized better
  • You can now force the Inspector window to stay open in the background with
    • defaults write CDFinder InspectorPlainWindow 1
  • Fixed a problem reading cover art of AIFF files
  • Fixed several problems with find queries and special values
  • Fixed a problem mounting certain Disk Images for cataloging
  • Fixed a problem redrawing a large icon in list mode, if the icon was only partially visible

CDFinder ReviewWorks perfectly - Version: 5.5, 1/29/2009 06:44AM PST

welcome--2008
I must say I'm very impressed. I thought Virtual Machines weren't recognized (cf. my previous post) but it was only a matter of deactivating an option in the preferences. I therefore correct my evaluation: this app rocks by all means and it undoubtedly deserves 5 stars. Also the developper's response is terrific.

CDFinder ReviewNo Virtual Machines recognition? - Version: 5.5, 1/29/2009 05:23AM PST

welcome--2008
I'm evaluating CDFinder 5.5 and I'm quite disapointed about one thing: it doesn't recognize virtual machines from Parallels or VMWare Fusion. Instead, the catalogue says the folder size containing the virtual machine is 0 Bytes, which means you have to calculate these sizes manually! Not very practical and quite annoying, because CDFinder is otherwise great. Hope the author finds a fix.
