Although PasswordMaster-1.6.3 is no longer being developed or supported by RAILhead Design it still appears to work on Mac OS X Leopard 10.5.3.

I’ve been a registered user since version 1.0
08/12/2001.

He does have other websites

PasswordMaster Usage TipSERIOUS SECURITY ISSUE - Version: 1.6.3, 8/29/2006 02:12PM PST

We were testing this and found that if you copy someone elses data files from their ~/Library/Application Support/RAILhead Design Stuff/PasswordMaster/PasswordMaster Data/ folder to yours you can read their passwords, also if they have passworded their password master simply delete the file (Well ours was called YMAPASANG), and run it again, it does not ask for the password.

I also paid via PayPal and have not heard anything from the RAILhead. Not a thing. I decided to buy, because, as 'marmaladewanker,' noted, it's just the best there is right now. In fact, I appreciate how it's put together, and i like it's features -- probably because I previously was just placing my passwords in a TextEdit document (gah!).

'godfrey1' mentions the bullets for passwords, but that's actually just a preference that can be set in order to hide passwords. I like this program, but I just wish Maury would send registration info or at least respond in any capacity to my email. For now, I'll continue to hope that Maury's not in any life-threatening condition.

PasswordMaster ReviewDo not use this software! - Version: 1.6.3, 11/24/2005 09:33AM PST

I have (stupidly) paid my money to Railhead Design - twice! What you get back is an automatic response telling you your registration number will follow - but it doesn't come.
The software was good once but it is hard to close down once opened - and worse, your passwords become a series of dots which you cannot re-translate back into numbers or letters.
As a result, your passwords are in ther but they're lost to you.
I wish I could find a password manager that worked well in OSX.

PasswordMaster ReviewHelp Me Get My Data Out of Here! PassWord Master Is Dead. - Version: 1.6.3, 11/4/2005 05:57AM PST

I'm a proud *paid* owner of PassWord Master. And as previous reviews have noted, this app is tired and old. It hasn't been updated in two years. So, basically, you're using a password application without any sort of ongoing development. That means the developer hasn't fixed some glaring bugs, nor added any key features that would make this an even better app.

For me, that means I have almost 200 passwords and about 30 serial #s stored in this app with no where to go--but to start over again with another app.

But, guess what? You can't get the data out of PassWord Master in any elegant fashion (Tab-delimited file, perhaps? No.) So, if you want to go to another password/serial # storage utitlity, you're forced with *manually* copying all of your data over to the new app. That would take me about a week of work, I'm guessing.

If anyone made a password and serial # storage utility for OS X, that was robust and stable (and was interested in continuing their development over time), I'd dump PassWord Master in an instant. In the meanwhile, this is the best out there.

I'm not pissed at the developer, because they could have stopped development for a whole host of reasons. I'm just bummed because I jumped on board a utility that now verges on the antiquated.

Please, someone make a password/serial # storage utility that works seamlessly with OS X and is at least as good as this! I would buy it in an instant. And if you could help me get my data out of this app, I would pay you double!

PasswordMaster Reviewmissing KEY features and developer is unresponsive!!! - Version: 1.6.3, 7/7/2005 02:29PM PST

for one this program stays open forever. i recommended to the developer that this is probably not a good idea and he should have a configurable timeout, no response. my advice, just use secure notes in keychain. they're free AND secure.

PasswordMaster CommentaryUnacceptable - Stored Passwords ARE NOT SECURE! - Version: 1.6.3, 4/3/2005 07:37PM PST

I set up a second boot partion and copied the password master files and application to the new partition and it opened them without requiring a password. The password is probably stored in a preference file or something.

I sent an email to the developer (several weeks ago) and didn't get a reply (which is very annoying).

The chances of someone stealing my files is pretty remote but I have my ebay and paypal passwords, visa card information, online banking login information etc. It is just not worth taking a chance.

PasswordMaster ReviewNo import - Version: 1.6.3, 1/30/2005 09:03PM PST

bubbas_place_dotmac
What a drag. Just try to import all your OS9 PassWordMaster data into the OSX version. You can't! You have to physically transcribe all the info from one version to another. Sorry, I don't have time. Most serious apps won't make you do this. Otherwise the app does what it says.

this. I too, had the bug and could not retrieve info from a back up. I sent an email but did not have high hopes of ever seeing my data again.Thankfully, I was sent a fix and the with this update the bug should be gone for good. Well worth 10 bucks.
