What is Dot What?
Did you ever receive a file from a friend or from an internet download and wonder how to access it? Now-a-days, many files have some sort of 3 digit extension at the end of the name (ie. sit, hqx, bin), rendering it very difficult to determine the correct application to associate with them.

Currently there are thousands of applications available for most systems, with more constantly on the way, each with its own corresponding file extension. How can you possibly remember all of these file extensions?

Enter Dot What?... Simply launch Dot What?, type in the questionable file extension, and instantly be presented with its description, recommended application to open it with, and even a corresponding web site for each application!

What's new in this version:

Added area code database support
Added zip code database support
Added application searching support
Added internet extension support
Tab key now hilites the text area
Dot What window is now resizable!
Switched to new format database, allowing multiple finds during a search
Many new extensions!
Added Carbon Lib checking. Dot What? will no longer run if launched with a version of Carbon Lib less than 1.2.
Added new tooltips from the latest Solar Panel code
Now un-iconizes when the window is brought to the foreground - improving thumbnail window
To move the thumb window, you have to choose iconize from the menu and then move it
Added support for Carbon Lib 1.3
If no apps or sites, and the tab is active, it auto-moves to the description tab
The program now has a dupfinder that will hide mutliples in the list
New databases are only accessible to registered users
Improved tooltips
Changed some classes around to take advanatage of OS X
Significant improvements to OS X version
