I wanted to like the newer xScope better, but Coloristic still is my favorite interface + has been my constant companion for many years. I've never found any option I liked better, + I make it a habit to check them all out.

xScope (from IconFactory.com) has literally six times the feature set of this app, including guides, rulers and small-screen frames, for just two dollars more, and the interface is much more sophisticated. I used Coloristic years ago (and tried it again just now) but now xScope has replaced that and two or three other programs I used to use.
