Product Description:

The 3ivx decoder plays back most MPEG-4 variants (including DivX 3,4 and 5, Apple MPEG-4, Philips MPEG-4 and XviD). The 3ivx decoder produces noticeably higher quality video than other decoders due to its high quality postprocessing filters, and because of its core design and optimization maintains a record-breaking speed.

The 3ivx encoder produces industry-leading compact high quality MPEG-4 video and is distributed as a plug-in for QuickTime. This allows you to encode MPEG-4 video with any QuickTime compatible encoding application.

Why use 3ivx D4 4.5 instead of Apple MPEG-4?

1. 3ivx is up to twice as efficient as Apple MPEG-4. It produces the same quality video in half the size.
2. 3ivx is up to five times faster at encoding.
3. 3ivx is completely compatible with the Apple MPEG-4 Decoder built into and shipped with every copy of QuickTime 6.
4. 3ivx is a faster and better decoder, but you don't need 3ivx to decode.

The 3ivx Web site is now back in its entirety, with store and support now visible. Keys can once again be downloaded. But don't expect an apology, or an explanation of what went wrong.....

First the 3ivx Web site went away altogether, then it came back minus the store and forums. This means if you bought the product (as I did) it's now impossible to access your account and download the key which is essential to re-installing on a new or reformatted computer.

Avoid like the plague.

Doesn't work, and when you think you uninstalled it, it stays stuck in your Library - Quicktime folder and will be used when you for example import an avi file into iMovie.
Which will result in that AVI file suddenly having this big ugly horrible "3iVX demo expired logo" over it (and I mean ALL over it!), and you wasted 2 hours importing a movie that before you installed and removed 3ivx would import just fine without the damned logo over it.
Stay away!
