Which will result in that AVI file suddenly having this big ugly horrible "3iVX demo expired logo" over it (and I mean ALL over it!), and you wasted 2 hours importing a movie that before you installed and removed 3ivx would import just fine without the damned logo over it.
Stay away!

jasonrainbowsTo REMOVE 3iVX from your system is non-intuitive. Searching for, and removing the found files doesn't remove 3iVX, you have to follow this procedure;
1. Open HD
2. Open LIBRARY folder
3. Locate QuickTime folder and open
4. Locate and remove the following;
3ivxMediaExporter.component
3ivxVideoCodec.component
5. Drop them right in the trash, empty it, and never, ever admit to any of your friends that you were stupid enough to install it in the first place.
6. Find, download and install PERIAN, it's free and 1,000,000 x better.
Do a little googling about "3ivx problems" and be enlightened. They're just out to make a quick buck and will probably disappear in the near future. They don't even do a modicum of maintenance on their own websites.

evang_bischofshofen_dotmacon intel-macs all your 3ivx encoded films wont play! I have not found any possibility to convert them to any format, that works on intel native!
(you can view the fims, if you tell quicktime to run under "rosetta" or use vlc, but cannot convert them. so sooner or later they will be non-playabel)

nitewing98The resulting file plays now on my G3 (450mhz) iMac when the AVI was jerky and unwatchable.
If you have a slower, older G3 Mac, you MUST get this and DivX Doctor.
I have OS X 10.4.8 and have had no problem with the codec at all.
May have an issue with iTunes... - Version: 4.5.1, 11/11/2006 05:58PM PST

In my case the guilty component was "3ivx D4 4.5.1 for OSX" . After removing it from Library/Quicktime/ folder, I quit iTunes and then launched it again. Back to normal fast playback.
Install this software if you need DivX and/or XVid support, but be sure to double check and see if any of your iTunes videos or video podcasts (rocketboom was one of mine that wouldn't play back) play smoothly.
Strangely, if I took the same video and opened it with Quicktime, it would play smoothly. This was just an iTunes issue for me.

scythefalconThe codec it is encoded in is labeled 3ivX 4.5.2a1. So, as near as I can figure is that I got a preview of what's to come, not only a more advanced codec, but a new application for ripping DVDs. So, the question is . . . can anybody tell me more . . .

IlgazThis is a _must have_ download if you have anything to do with videos.
