Product Description:

Ircle is a Macintosh program to use IRC (Internet Relay Chat). IRC enables you to talk with typed messages, in realtime, to other Internet users around the world. IRC is organized in channels on a specific topic. You can also talk privately with someone. On average there are thousands of users and channels on the big IRC networks.

What's new in this version:

Fixed:
  • 68k/PPC/OSX: problem where dragging a piece of plain text into the topic dialog window would crash ircle.
  • 68k/PPC/OSX: after a modem hangup ircle was unable to close the connections or reconnect. this also occurs on Mac OS X 10.2, for instance when an ADSL modem reconnects using PPPoE.
  • 68k/PPC/OSX: random stalled DCCs on high speed connections.
  • 68k/PPC/OSX: the Fserve and FserveDir applescript property now report the correct values.
  • 68k/PPC/OSX: control clicking (or right-mouse clicking) on empty space of a channel window would sometimes crash ircle.
  • PPC/68k: Problems selecting/adding servers and friends.
  • PPC/68k: Some window positioning problems.
  • OS X: some text drawing, coloring and font managing problems.
  • OS X: printing routines now work.
  • OS X: the external media player can now be used again for CTCP sounds.
  • OS X 10.2: 'load data' and 'save data' script routines now work correctly. Unfortunately, due to internal Applescript changes in 10.2 you cannot load some data stored by ircles running on previous OS X versions anymore. Sorry.
Added:
  • any version: the away/disconnect/kick/bankick/channel part dialogs (Option close a channel window) now allow for many messages. You can easily select, add, edit and delete the message list.
  • any version: the built in sounds now play at a lower volume. this is a workaround for an upcoming volume setting. Some people complained that ircle sounds are too loud.
  • OS X: changed the command key for Cycle Window from command ',' to command '~' to comply to OS X standards.
  • OS X: the dock icon now starts bouncing when a private message is received.

Operating System Requirements:

This product is designed to run on the following operating systems:

  • Mac OS X 10.2
  • Mac OS X 10.1

So, what exactly has this update been improved on? Vagueness is not a selling point.

Ircle X Troubleshooting ReportIrcle 3.5 and Intel Macs - Version: 3.5a5, 10/27/2006 09:49AM PST

Ircle is my favorite IRC client on any OS.

However since getting a MacBook Pro, I am unable to use it, as it unexpectedly quits after a short time, often before getting connected to a server.

What is a stable version of Ircle I can use on my Intel Mac?

Bill
