PTHPasteboard CommentaryLooks like a dead app to me! - Version: 4.4.0, 2/17/2009 03:08PM PST

No updates in a year now--not even bug fixes, and several fixes discussed in other posts below are badly needed. Moreover, links on the developer's site supposed to go to their discussion forum go to other places.

This is never the sort of situation registered, paying customers like me are happy to see.

PTHPasteboard ReviewIssues that keep me waiting for iSnip to come back - Version: 4.4.0, 10/30/2008 04:46PM PST

I would buy PTHPasteboard if the dev made it more practical. #1 let you choose an interface that is more streamlined like iSnip was for Tiger where it came up in an attached window in the Apple menu bar instead of a separate window (which also helps with naming folders in the finder - see below) and would limit the size of the space for each clip to one line so you aren't scanning around everywhere with your mouse/trackpad like you do with PTHPasteboard to simply and quickly insert some text somewhere.

Also, I can't stand how PTHPasteboard won't work with pasting text into folders in the Finder. If you highlight the Folder name and then go to PTHPasteboard to paste into the area it deselects the Folder and you are unable to paste into the Folder name field. Very annoying and iSnip did this beautifully.

Keep all the added features of PTHPasteboard available for those who dig it, but please.. please... please... make the thing more practical for power users who crave speedy functionality over bells and whistles.

Otherwise, I'll just wait for free iSnip to come back to OS X (the dev is working on it for Leopard now) and won't ever buy PTHPastboard. I'm just simply more productive with iSnip.

PTHPasteboard ReviewMenubar click area is too SMALL, otherwise it's great - Version: 4.4.0, 3/3/2008 04:16AM PST

I love this app and use it daily. However, in this last version, the size of the area in the menubar you must click to activate a pasteboard has shrunk, making it a pain to use. It used to be that I could click anywhere within maybe 1/16th of an inch on either side of the menubar image (in my case, the red scissors) and it would work. But with this new version I must click EXACTLY ON the scissors to get it to respond. This is kind of a pain because the idea of this app is to make it as quick and easy as possible to paste something, but more often than not I miss the scissors by the slightest amount and have to reposition the cursor and click again, which slows me down. I know this seems like a niggling complaint, but it really does slow me down (when compared to earlier versions, which were much more forgiving). I cannot find a preference that allows me to widen the clickable area.

Thanks to the developers for making such a great app, and for making a free version!

PTHPasteboard Troubleshooting ReportIs 4.2.4 not playing nice with 10.4? - Version: 4.2.4, 11/17/2007 07:55PM PST

4.2.4 came down the pipeline and was a little balky with installing. After just installing it manually, I'm told that my computer can't open the pref pane. is anybody else having issues with 4.2.4 under OSX 10.4.11?

I used PTH until it became unavailable, and switched to shadowclipboard. After dealing with gigabyte sized cache files, and other bugs, I starting looking and (re)found PTHPasteboard. Registered it rigth away.

Thanks for a great product.

I used PTHPasteboard when OS X first came out but switched over to the slicker looking iClip.
It may look slick but it has many many problems, I'm back to PTHPasteboard for good!

PTHPasteboard Reviewmore than useful - Version: 4.2.0, 6/6/2007 12:50PM PST

I'm not one to post many of these. But this utility is becoming more and more useful as I begin to depend on it, not only as a paster but just a place to copy junk like passwords and login names, coupon codes, urls, and then be able to find them again in a hurry. And yet normal FIFO copy/past still works normally.

Very useful.

PTHPasteboard ReviewWaaay better than the rest - Version: 4.2.0, 5/24/2007 03:23AM PST

I used shadowclipboard for years until it started getting buggy and the author started questionable practices on here and macupdate with harrassing users that gave bad reviews.

Best clipboard app ever. And no bait and switch games like others I've used.

PTHPasteboard ReviewA Missing Piece of The Mac OS System - Version: 4.2.0, 5/17/2007 03:05AM PST

EnlightenedOne
This is an indispensable tool to the Mac user. I recommend it to everyone and install it on every Mac.

I have to echo some of what Joehodge says so elegantly below: "Excellent clipboard history tool [...] it stays out of my way when not needed, doesn't obscure 'full screen' apps, holds a large history of styled text and other items and takes just a flick of the wrist for me to summon and a single click to paste."

You can paste clipboard text (current or history) as unformatted text (plaintext) into any application. And you can set it up to paste as plaintext by default, as I have.

Thank you PTH.com!

PTHPasteboard ReviewSame problems as before - Version: 4.1.2, 2/8/2007 02:41PM PST

The same problems I mentioned regarding the previous versions are still present. They are:

1. If one has to use it in "always show window" mode - After completing the paste actions it is impossible to close either the Main or Custom windows by clicking on their red close buttons as they are disabled and their menu bar icons do not hide and then show the windows again. It would be helpful if both these options could be available to the user as when the window is needed for pasting the user would be able to click on the required window menu bar icon and after using it could just click on the red close button. Nobody expects the windows to be shown 24 hours a day.

2. It would be useful if it were possible to move items (rather than copy) from one Custom window to another, e.g., by using a hotkey whilst dragging the item.

3. If one wishes to change the order of items in a Custom window by dragging them, they are not moved but instead are copied to the target location.

The Pro version, which just enables more features, has the same problems so I can't even upgrade to that.
