Product Description:

NoteShare is a powerful desktop application for creating, publishing and sharing media rich, multi-page notebooks. Users can instantly share their notebooks with other NoteShare users for presenting, viewing and editing information. NoteShare can be used in the same room, same building and globally for connecting anytime, anywhere.

Sharing means that the information in a shared notebook can be viewed, edited and modified by other NoteShare users. Any NoteShare user can share a notebook from their own personal computer and allow other NoteShare users to access, view and edit it. With NoteShare, you don't need to use a third party hosting service or server, just two or more users to start sharing and working on the same notebook.

NoteShare is an ideal collaboration tool for users who work on team projects or have a need to share notebook information with one or more users in a small group or classroom. NoteShare serves a growing, dynamic community of users including students, educators, researchers, scientists, doctors, designers, authors, directors, producers, consultants and many other creative fields.

NoteShare allows multiple users to work on a single shared, interactive notebook from the same room, same building or even from a remote location via the Internet or a network gateway. NoteShare enables home and small office users to work on their notebooks remotely while away or in a different location than from where the notebooks are being shared. Presenting, viewing and editing a shared notebook can be done on-demand as needed. Any NoteShare user can view other shared notebooks as well as share their own notebooks.

What's new in this version:

  • The "Find All" results table in the Find panel is now part of the main panel instead of in a separate drawer. This allows the results table to be expanded vertically as desired, instead of being limited to the height of the Find panel (a limitation of drawers).
  • Entries in remote notebooks are now synchronized to the owner's copy automatically every 15 seconds while an entry is actively being edited, to minimize possible data loss due to a network failure.
  • The X-Ray View (Option-hover) for document attachments now uses QuickLook to present the document. Option-hover shows the QuickLook thumbnail, whereas Option-Shift-hover shows the QuickLook preview in a new QuickLook window.
  • Improved stability when sharing notebooks to viewers using NoteShare Express as an applet.
  • Fixed issue that prevented auto-saving of shared notebooks that were opened only remotely, and not also locally on the server itself.
  • Fixed issue which could lead to loss of ability of owners to communicate with viewers, resulting in out-of-sync errors on the viewers.
  • Fixed problem with blank notebook toolbar pull-down menus in OS X 10.6
  • Fixed problem in custom Service definitions that caused some image types not to be clippable.
  • Changed handling of HTML coming off the pasteboard. Previously it was shown in a new web entry. Now it is converted to RTFD and pasted as editable content. This provides improved parity in how rich content is pasted from Apple apps and non-Apple apps.
  • Fixed issue causing an empty web notebook folder to be created when a notebook was opened even when auto-updating of the web notebook was not enabled.
  • Improved handling of file names with unusual characters in RSS feeds.
  • Fixed problem causing the warning sheet to fail to appear in NoteShare Server when trying to "Save As" a shared local notebook.
  • Fixed issue that could cause a crash when many viewers are remotely editing the same shared notebook.
  • Fixed issue causing some attachments not to be transferred when a Page Folio was imported into a remotely opened shared notebook.
  • Fixed issue which could cause a crash after deleting a disconnected local owner from the Open Shared Notebook panel.
  • Fixed issue which could cause the app to appear to hang when trying to connect to an address with an unresponsive server.

NoteShare CommentaryThe only capable alternative to OneNote for Mac OS X - Version: 1.7.5, 6/16/2009 08:06AM PST

maxt1_dotmac
Granted, the price is a little high, but this is a unique implementation of what has become a killer app for the PC-- OneNote. Except this is better because it's more accessible.

NoteShare ReviewHideous and hilariously overpriced - Version: 1.7.5, 12/4/2008 03:24PM PST

As humanity approaches ever closer to the year 2010, I think it's safe to say that the majority of us understand the similarities between analogue and digital note taking tools, so unless the target market for NoteShare is the small percentage of computer users who haven't digested the concept yet, please spare us the hideous GUI notebook analogy.

As for NoteShare's price? Now that's pure comedy!
