I would suggest GIS user to tryout Quantum GIS (QGIS).
The interface is nicer than GRASS, it does connect to GRASS.
I don't know why it's not listed on VT.

It seems to be the wrong URL in the "download" button. The right address ought to be http://www.public.asu.edu/~cmbarton/files/grass_osx/GRASS_600_beta1.dmg
