Product Description:

NFSManager is a small tool for easy access to the NFS features of Mac OS X. As an operating system with a Unix core, Mac OS X is able to support the Network File System (NFS) protocol according to internet specification RFC 1094. NFS is the accepted industry standard for sharing files between Unix systems.

What's new in this version:

  • The software now supports additional types of registration keys for site and global use contracts
  • Some user interface labels and messages have been rephrased

..that does what is says. Even experienced UNIX-users are sometimes happy to have some tools that makes work faster and easier, especially in OS X, that has some extras (f.e. Netinfo) that makes pain in the a... out of most easy tasks on "normal" UNIXes.

The interface could be cleaner, but otherwise this is much less painful than mucking around in netinfo.

yourself before you make unqualified comments: 1) Although RFC 1813 updates RFC 1094, Mac OS X does not implement it. Apple's NFS support is based on NeXT code written in 1993, two years before RFC 1813 existed. So the specification that Mac OS X only supports RFC 1094 is absolutely correct. 2) I don't believe that you are really able to distribute NFS automount tables to a network of 600 Mac OS X clients on the command line in 30 seconds. However, NFS Manager is able to do that.
