What's new in this version:

If you have a third-party FireWire hard drive connected, turn it off and disconnect it before installing this update. Reconnect it and turn it back on after installation is complete and you've restarted.

Applications

Allows TextEdit to open certain RTF documents that previously wouldn't open, resulting in a "TextEdit Open Failed. Couldn't open file" alert.
Resolves an issue in which Safari, Mail, and other networking applications that use DNS lookups could experience intermittent connectivity issues with Security Update 2004-09-30 and Mac OS X 10.3.5 or later installed.
Addresses an issue with Blizzard World of Warcraft in which the game's frame rate could drop considerably when in "Ghost mode," if the computer uses an nVidia graphics card.
Resolves an issue in which enabling Vertex Shaders in World of Warcraft could lead to unexpected graphics issues when using an nVidia graphics card.
Addresses an issue with World of Warcraft in which incorrect colors or unexpectedly flashing objects could appear when using an ATI Radeon 9600 graphics card, making gameplay difficult.
Improves compatibility for Pacific Tech's Graphing Calculator 3.5—some 3D surfaces might not render in Mac OS X 10.3.6.

Addresses an issue in which a brief "flash of lines" may appear on the screen when waking the computer from sleep after the "Flurry" Screen Saver has run, if the computer uses an ATI Radeon 8500, 9000, 9200, 9600, or M9 graphics chip.

this is the only download since 10.1.1 which has been problematic and for me it's a complete disaster. According to my 'about this mac' I am running 10.4.11. However, it isn't listed in the software update 'installed updates'. So it's kind of installed but not installed! Safari doesn't work at all, USB ports crash. I can't re-install as software update says I'm up to date and if I try a manual attempt - the disk image won't mount. Without Safari the dreaded Explorer becomes the default browser - opening for every link - and this can't be changed without Safari. Spotlight is now very slow and I suspect the machine is heading for a crash. Solution: you've guessed it - clean install. Nice one.

Bug: Apple Mail, dragging a selection of mail attachments - Version: 10.4.11, 11/28/2007 08:15AM PST

Hello,

I am having a problem with Apple Mail since I have applied the 10.4.11 Combo Updater.

I have selected several photos I have received in an email. I am dragging the selection to the desired folder on my desktop.

The photos will not be copied to that location. Instead, a text clipping appears in my destination folder with the following filename:

yyyyyyy

If I am dragging a single photo to my destination folder, the file will be copied accordingly.

If I am dragging the entire selection, the text clipping appears.

As far as I can remember, I never had such an issue under Mac OS X 10.4.10

Safari 3.0 but no Bookmarks? - Version: 10.4.11, 11/25/2007 06:07PM PST

I have tried everything with the new Combo Updater to 10.4.11 for PPC but I can't get my Safari 3.0 to keep any Bookmarks. I eliminated AcidSearch 0.62 and Safari Extender 1.6.6--neither of which works yet with 10.4.11 and Safari 3.0 for PPC--but even when I import my Bookmarks from a copy on my external hard drive, even when I replace the username/Library/Safari/bookmarks.plst and the username/Library/preferences/com.apple.Safari.plst, even when I try the stand-alone download for the updater instead of the Software Update method, none of it seems to make any difference. I can't keep any Bookmarks. Does anybody out there have any other suggestions?
