Apple Mac OS X Review11.4.11 nightmare - Version: 10.4.11, 12/6/2007 10:52AM PST

this is the only download since 10.1.1 which has been problematic and for me it's a complete disaster. According to my 'about this mac' I am running 10.4.11. However, it isn't listed in the software update 'installed updates'. So it's kind of installed but not installed! Safari doesn't work at all, USB ports crash. I can't re-install as software update says I'm up to date and if I try a manual attempt - the disk image won't mount. Without Safari the dreaded Explorer becomes the default browser - opening for every link - and this can't be changed without Safari. Spotlight is now very slow and I suspect the machine is heading for a crash. Solution: you've guessed it - clean install. Nice one.

Apple Mac OS X CommentaryBug: Apple Mail, dragging a selection of mail attachments - Version: 10.4.11, 11/28/2007 08:15AM PST

Hello,

I am having a problem with Apple Mail since I have applied the 10.4.11 Combo Updater.

I have selected several photos I have received in an email. I am dragging the selection to the desired folder on my desktop.

The photos will not be copied to that location. Instead, a text clipping appears in my destination folder with the following filename:

yyyyyyy

?

If I am dragging a single photo to my destination folder, the file will be copied accordingly.

If I am dragging the entire selection, the text clipping appears.

As far as I can remember, I never had such an issue under Mac OS X 10.4.10

Apple Mac OS X Troubleshooting ReportSafari 3.0 but no Bookmarks? - Version: 10.4.11, 11/25/2007 06:07PM PST

I have tried everything with the new Combo Updater to 10.4.11 for PPC but I can't get my Safari 3.0 to keep any Bookmarks. I eliminated AcidSearch 0.62 and Safari Extender 1.6.6--neither of which works yet with 10.4.11 and Safari 3.0 for PPC--but even when I import my Bookmarks from a copy on my external hard drive, even when I replace the username/Library/Safari/bookmarks.plst and the username/Library/preferences/com.apple.Safari.plst, even when I try the stand-alone download for the updater instead of the Software Update method, none of it seems to make any difference. I can't keep any Bookmarks. Does anybody out there have any other suggestions?

Upgrading to 10,4.11 from 10.4.10 via Software Update caused my G4 to fail to "Restart" The HD
can not be repaired. All prior upgrades up to and including 10.4.10 went fine on the same HD. The HD is still alive but will not boot.

Apple Mac OS X CommentaryPink vertical line on my screen - Version: 10.4.11, 11/23/2007 03:16PM PST

Hello,

I have noticed a pink vertical line today on my Apple PowerBook 17"/ 1,67 Ghz (Model A1107).

So, it seems like this it it? My Apple PowerBook is done?!

As far as I have read on the web, Apple Computer Inc. has already deleted several threads on other websites.

There seems something going totally wrong here.

Apple Mac OS X CommentaryAll Appears well with 10.4.11 on iMac G5 PPC - Version: 10.4.11, 11/20/2007 09:59AM PST

I wish more people would post what computer they are using .

I NEVER use Software Update.

I always update using Macfixit recommended upgrade procedure and have never had a problem with updates which include Security Updates. I hope I didn't just jinx myself by saying that. It seems to work every time for me. Takes a few more steps but it is worth it if you don't have problems.
I think installing in Safe mode, as Macfixit recommends, helps. Maybe not .
I installed a couple of days ago and everything seems to have a speed increase. Rare with updates.
All is well with Safari as well.
The internet Widgets did not work at first but after just restarting they were working again.

Apple Mac OS X CommentaryBackup files gone & There are other file sharing users connected to your computer? - Version: 10.4.11, 11/19/2007 02:20PM PST

Hello,

strange problem.

I just noticed that all the data on my backup HD are gone. I have verified my disk using Apple's Disk Utility. Disk Utility indicates that there are "0" files on my backup HD.

Huuch ???

When I tried to restart my computer, I got the alert box on my screen which indicated.

"There are other file sharing users connected to your computer!"

BUT THERE WERE DEFINITELY NO USERS CONNECTED TO MY COMPUTER.

Can someone please give me an explanation for this?

Apple Mac OS X CommentaryWhat happened to the Intel version? - Version: 10.4.11, 11/15/2007 11:53PM PST

Yesterday the Intel version of 10.4.11 was listed here at Versiontracker and today there is no sign of it. I installed it and while Safari 3.0 is working, it looks like crap. I posted a comment about it and I would like to see if anyone is having the same problem but where is the update? ARGH.
