Designed for anyone who uses a DV camcorder or digital camera, CatDV 6.0 Standard Edition is the ideal low cost tool to help you keep track of all your media.

Preview movies can be indexed either by file path or tape name and timecode
A new movie controller, with support for dragging In and Out points, visual indication of timecode event markers, and improved keyboard shortcuts
Improved sequence editing with a static playhead and new Match Frame and Toggle Subclip Limits commands (professional edition)
Enhancements to the tree navigator, including a node to list recently added clips, the ability to copy or move media files across file systems, and a new clip scratch pad to save clips of interest
Automatically associate metadata with a media file at the time of import by providing an XML file
Access to new QuickTime hi-res, multi-channel audio options when exporting movies
Pitch shift correction during high speed playback
Automatically computed file hashes and clip ids, and a new Find Duplicates command, allow you to track files as they're moved and identify duplicates
Support for image sequences (consecutively numbered still images are automatically converted to a reference movie) and meta clips (allowing you "stack" multiple clips together and treat them as one)
Clearer distinction between subclips and master clips, and on- and offline media
Preference settings such as view definitions or picklist values for logging fields can be stored on the server so all users on the network have the same settings
Automatically poll the server to refresh the catalog if another user has made changes
Enhanced tape library management screen with tabbed interface, ability to search across tapes or clips, and barcode reader improvements
Production blogs provide a way to communicate 'To Do' lists, contact details, and other information among the team, including links to clips of interest
The server control panel has a single button archive command to back up the entire database in one operation

stable software (in OS9), company very responsive to suggestions. The new live capture and bulk edit features in 2.5 are a big time saver to log and archive several tape in one go.

being the only app (as far as I know) that does what it does. Minus 2 stars for the fact that it's written in java which makes it ridiculously slow, unstable and unpleasant in general. Finally minus 1 star for the relatively high price.
