Product Description:

At its core, Bibble features a proprietary image pipeline that yields accurate color through custom profiles and delivers blazing speed through platform specific optimizations. Based on over four years of experience, our image processing algorithms consistently deliver the most detailed, artifact-free raw conversions available.

In today's rapidly changing digital environment we also know that many of you, even within a single organization, frequently find yourselves dealing with images from a variety of cameras and sources. Further adding to the mix is the need to process these images using disparate computer hardware on tight deadlines. Bibble 4 helps resolve this dilemma by providing support for all the most popular cameras and consistent editing tools and processing speed on all supported platforms (Windows, OS X, and Linux).

What's new in this version:

adds support for RAW files from eight of the newest digital SLR's including the Nikon D700, D60 and Canon Rebel XSi. This update also adds lens calibration data for several new lenses and fixes several minor issues found in previous releases.

Bibble ReviewSo far, quite good. - Version: 4.8, 6/25/2006 06:57AM PST

I've only ever used the Photoshop RAW importer before this, so I can't say how it stacks up against other RAW converters, but so far I'm impressed. It's able to pull out more detail than the Photoshop RAW, and its white balance tint feature is much better implemented.

However, I've found one possible bug: I tried applying an extreme WB tint to an image, then sent it to the batch processing qeue. When I looked at the file, the tint was gone. It was only when I saved the image manually that the tint showed up.

Bibble ReviewGreat batch photo processing - Version: 4.3, 10/17/2005 12:35PM PST

Have used Bibble for the past 4 years and have found it provides the best color rendering. Especially with batch processing. I use Nikon DX1 and now Nikon DX2. Have also used Nikon Capture and use Photoshop CS2 for comparison.

OK I thought it was about time that someone commented on the current version of Bibble rather than ancient history...

Bibble has a very wide regard in the photographic community and yes there were one or two annoying bugs some minor and some major.

I worked with Eric to help irradicate a crashing bug which had plagued me since version 4.0 of the Mac Pro version. One phone call and three emails and Eric had the problem fixed releasing 4.2.2 today.

Sure, many people use the Adobe Camera Raw (ACR) plugin, but very few realise that you have to calibrate it first. I always got lousy results without a lot of tweaks. Even then processing large numbers of files with ACR is really slow. Even on modest hardware I am able to caption, whitebalance, check exposure and convert to 16Bit tiff over 250 images an hour and still set up the next batch in the foreground.

If you have a large number of RAW files to "process" this is without question the way to go.
