Based on our industry-leading ConstructionTree technology, the modeling process in solidThinking grants you the greatest freedom to experiment with shapes and innovate.

solidThinking lets you work in an intuitive and comfortable manner, allowing you to create complex scenes in the fastest way possible.

The name of our product itself expresses our aim: designing a tool for you to give shape to your ideas quickly and easily.

What's new in this version:

  • A restyled and more streamlined user interface enabling better workflow.
  • New 3D manipulators for translation, scaling and rotation.
  • Enhancements to point, curve and surface representation for greater precision and improved ease of use.
  • New options for interactive visualization in the modeling views, including wireframe on shaded model and environment maps.
  • A wizard to help users choose the ideal modeling units and tolerances based on the size of the model.
  • Real-time rendering to further improve interactivity during the review and visualization phases of design.
  • Progressive rendering for immediate feedback on the final image with a fast preview of the lighting and materials in the scene; subsequent rendering passes that continue to fill in detail until the final high-quality image is achieved.

solidThinking ReviewReview - Version: 7.5.1, 11/28/2007 04:55PM PST

This product continues to improve with time and the developers are certainly receptive to feedback. I have not yet failed to get a prompt personal response to any queries I have had - including my recent 'issue' :-).

Recent inclusion of being able to render models in Maxwell Render has also been a boon to those seeking ultimate photo realism.

Some aspects of the interface remain not entirely 'mac like' however , given the learning curve of the program in general, this is not really a major issue.

With the recent lower cost additions to the solidthinking line-up we may hopefully see a growing community of users!

How in god's name do I actually download this? I'm registered user, can't download it here, can't find the download on the solidthinking site either..

Evoque - how about making it a bit easier to actually get a hold of this update.. and especially for your registered users!

Only thing I can rate is 'ease of use' - which is less than poor seeing as I can't get the update.

Cheers.
