Product Description:

EasyFind is an alternative to or supplement of Spotlight and finds files, folders or contents in any file without the need for indexing. Highlights:

  • Boolean operators, wildcards, phrases
  • No indexing, search immediately
  • Finds invisible files and files inside packages (which Spotlight doesn't search)
  • Displays the location of each file in a separate column
  • Provides contextual menus and services
  • Supports drag-and-drop
  • Very responsive due to multithreading
  • Uses little memory

What's new in this version:

  • NEW Occurrences in file and folder names are highlighted.
  • NEW Comparison options 'Ignore Umlauts' and 'Fuzzy' (only avail- able for 'Boolean+Wildcards' search mode).
  • Improved 'Created' and 'Modified' columns are resizable and display as much information as possible (like Apple Mail).
  • Improved Width of 'Where' and 'Name' columns (almost) unlimited.
  • Improved User-defined folder is now '~/Library/Application Support/ EasyFind/', an existing folder is automatically moved to the new location.

EasyFind ReviewAwesome Programming... - Version: 4.5, 10/7/2009 04:34PM PST

Been using the PowerPC version and discovered it has been updated to Universal. The PowerPC version was fast ( running Rosetta ) on my Intel iMac, but **screams** as a native binary. I just did a wildcard search ( *pdfc* ) ---meaning any titel with pdfc in it and it scanned all the files on my 1TB hard drive in a few seconds and found everything. Like many folks, I typically use Spotlight first but when it couldn't find any matching files, EasyFind found them. Works great for finding those files left behind when uninstalling software. All this without an index and without the time to create an index, plus it is free. Clearly, this is lost leader software but these developers deserve kudos for what they've done.

EasyFind CommentaryThank you! - Version: 4.5, 9/23/2009 09:50PM PST

I wanted to find a file on a FW800 connected drive. The stupid Finder could not find it. I knew it was there somewhere.

Heck, the STUPID STUPID STUPID STUPID MAC OS FINDER (10.6) could not even find files I was staring at in a window!

Once I was using PathFinder just because I got so mad at the Finder for not F-I-N-D-ing things that I stopped using it. But PF has its own problems so I migrated back to the Finder.

So how about a program that actually finds things! Halleluia! Thank you guys!

The OSX Finder should be called Loser.

EasyFind Troubleshooting ReportStill won't work on 10.4.11 - Version: 4.5, 7/11/2009 10:51PM PST

EasyFind runs but won't open an initial scan window. I logged a support ticket with Devon but they closed it with no info or resolution. Guess they don't really care that it doesn't work. Guess I'll not ever bother using their software.
