The review I just submitted should have 5 stars throughout. I missed the "Recommend CharisMac Discribe" button or chose the wrong Feedback Type. Anyway, see my previous comments. I originally obtained this software when that bloatware package everybody touts that reminds one of breakfast, kept reporting that there was an "unstable connection" with my drive. I bought Discribe, it worked like a trouper, and have never looked back. Now with the patch for the latest Apple OS, it continues to satisfy me (see previous post for details). Again, this pertains to the yet-to-be-posted version 5.1.6. And, I had to choose "used product less than a month" but have in reality used it for over 3 years without a hitch, and this latest version keeps pace with that satisfaction.
New version rocks! - Version: 5.1.07, 3/3/2006 12:13AM PST

Newer version exists!! (5.1.6) I don't know about people with earlier versions (I've had no trouble since 5.0.36) or e.g. Iomega drives, but with a 3rd party LG drive, I have been a completely satisfied user of this software for years. When I updated to OS X 10.4.5, I encountered a crash with 5.0.47. I e-mailed tech support, and was immediately sent an entirely new version, 5.1.6, which is solid as a rock.
These people make great software, but are not as adept at keeping their users informed. I couldn't find the 5.1.6 update on their site. If you have a recent version paid copy, it is worth e-mailing them for an update (very quick response), it does so much more than Apple's plain jane burning that I couldn't function without it. Matter of fact, I'd say just buy the current version from the Web and if it doesn't work, ask for the update. Copy one disc to another with no image or scratch file, video CD, bootable CD, incremental sessions, convert AAC to AIFF, burnproof protection, mixed mode, etc., all that good stuff, it is all there, a combination of simplicity and elegance. I generally appreciate Apple's minimalist approach, but when you want to really get down to business with CD/DVD burning, you can't go wrong with Discribe. Disclaimer: I have no business or other association with Charismac Engineering, I just think they write a**kicking software. Don't whine-just buy it!

All I do is media and computers. My Mac works like a dream. The Primera Bravo II works like a dream......EXCEPT it needs software and Discribe is some of the most poorly written code I've seen in fifteen years. I've been 5 days with this software and haven't burned a disk yet.
Primera needs to solve this problem and get new coders and fire Charismac.
There, I said it and I'm glad. Anybody got a spare $2,000 to return to me for this badly written software?
