TeXShop Troubleshooting ReportEmpty pdf file - Version: 2.26, 11/6/2009 09:30AM PST

Hi, I am using TeXShop 2.26 on my Mac OSX 10.5. The set up looks great. However, when I LaTeX a file, the pdf file that opens up is empty. I can view it only if I go to the macros and select "view with Acrobat" from the applescript menu. Furthermore, this behavior is not very stable, sometimes the pdf file opens up and sometimes not. Is there a simple way to fix it or is there a bug? I would appreciate any help on this. This problem was not there in my older version of TeXShop.

Thanks,

Das

TeXShop ReviewFantabulous WishWare! - Version: 2.25, 3/1/2009 07:33PM PST

Hi, I've used TeXShop since its debut, back when Mac OS X replaced System 9. I'm a mathematical physicist, and use TeXShop daily, 24/7/366. As indicated in the "title", I do believe this program has been spearheading a new category of software: WishWare. Ten days ago, I wrote to Richard Koch, asking if a split view in the PDF preview window were possible... and received the answer that same-day, that it's implemented and ready for release! In the past, I have made similar suggestions, and everything I wished for (and much more!) is implemented. Oh... and it is free!!! Well, wishes are free, so it does seem befitting. Richard Koch, THANK YOU!! Cheers, Tristan

TeXShop CommentaryAn excellent update to an already wonderful app. - Version: 2.20, 1/27/2009 04:54AM PST

Well, it's been a while since I last updated my TeXShop version, as the prior version has worked so well for me, but I thought I would do a bit of updating just to see the new changes. This version is great. First, a few of the older features that would work sporadically (at least for me on a 2006 model MacBook) are now fully operational on my computer, i.e., clicking on the source page to circle something on the output PDF and clicking on the PDF to highlight a line of code in the source window both work flawlessly now. They may have worked for others this whole time, but I couldn't get them to work too well, which may have been simply my fault anyway.

The line numbers on the source page are a great idea and very helpful. It's nice to have the console output an error on some line and be able to find that line in the source window easily. And the background color changes are now quite accessible, which is a nice feature. There is one little problem with this update, however. Whenever you go to change the background color for either the source or console windows, you cannot change it back to a white background by just clicking on one of the white pallet squares in the color wheel/swatch pop-up window. What worked for me is clicking on the little arrow that controls color gradation on the right side of the color wheel. It's the only small bug that I've found using this great application.

Thanks a bunch TeXShop developers. I used this program all throughout my graduate school tenure and I wrote my thesis on it, and afterwards I went back and re-wrote every other important document I've ever written (using other programs) on TeXShop so I've used it for years with much personal and professional success. Great program, great tool, great feedback, and great development. I don't think you could ask for much more than that.

This is just a great .app for setting scientifical works and papers.

I can't understand, why there is so little feedback.
It's the best for TeX (LaTeX) on the Mac :-)

Now comes with latexmk to automatically run latex and bibtex etc as many times as needed.

I use it every day for my work. It stable, reliable, and has a nice clean simple interface.

Source code colouring is very useful, as is the abilty to switch between source and output just by clicking.

Does a great job!

Is there anywhere one can find a change log for this app? I routinely install these updates, but it seems all but impossible to find out what has changed from version to version, and for many this is important to know. The latest documentation I could find only discusses version 2.0.5.

TeXShop ReviewBest TeX Editor I have ever used - Version: 2.0.9b, 3/23/2006 07:07AM PST

I just finished my diploma thesis using TeXShop and everything just worked perfectly. The only slight problem might be the quite excessive RAM usage (200-400MB here). This was no problem for me but might be for other users.
Nice Work - Thank You very much!!!

TeXShop ReviewIncredible tool for copy editors! - Version: 2.0.8, 1/22/2006 05:24PM PST

I just started using TexShop today, and I must say that I'm impressed. I'm tasked with copy editing for a large scientific journal. Many of the articles we publish are submitted in TeX format. Until today, we had to submit all rewrites to our typesetter to manually edit. However, TexShop has made it a breeze for me to edit our papers in-house. We're saving thousands of dollars in the process!

Bravo, TexShop developers. Thank you for a great tool!

TeXShop ReviewMust try softwar - Version: 2.0.8, 1/13/2006 04:37AM PST

TexShop is a nearly perfect, no-nonsense editor and TeX/LaTeX front end. If you are a beginner with LaTeX, go to the TexShop website and follow the instructions for getting started. TexShop itself is an intuitive text editor that is reasonably well-developed and extremely stable. It is not as adaptable or powerful as WinEdt in the Windows environment, or Emacs in any environment, but it does what it says it will do with a minimum of fuss... and it does it "right out of the box". The program is slowly becoming more sophisticated, but since it is free there is no commerical pressure to quickly add features in order generate upgrade fees. As a result, the program seems to be closer to being bug free than any commercial editors or wordprocessors I've used. Would that all software were as thoughtfully designed and carefully developed!
