There are two parts to the MoonMenu package:
MoonMenu for the Menubar
MoonMenu draws the current phase of the moon in the menubar. The menu, when selected, reveals the following information:

The MoonMenu application is a small but powerful panel that allows you to investigate all of the information about the moon for any date and time between the years 1923 and 2039. It also controls the settings for the tint of the moon so you can optimize it for your monitor. There're even built in definitions for the items listed above... just one click away.
MoonMenu for the Menubar
MoonMenu draws the current phase of the moon in the menubar. The menu, when selected, reveals the following information:
- A textual description of the moon phase
- Illumination percentage
- The moon's age in days
- Current lunation number
- Farmers' Almanac names for the current lunation
- Upcoming quarter predictions
- Automatic "blue moon" detection that actually colors the moon blue
- Sun rise/set times
- Twilight rise/set times
- Moon rise/set times

What's new in this version:
Much faster discolosure of various controls within the
MoonMenu control panel; adjustments to the UI to accomodate wide
display; and messages about daylight savings time. 3.0.1 also fixes a
time zone bug that previously offset quarter predictions incorrectly
and removes a memory leak.

This is a cool little app, but it's menu icons are dreadful. They're too small, and the contrast is just too poor for my bad eyesight. Next to Weatherpop's icons MoonMenu's look even worse. I learned all about the terminology of the moon phases with this app, but I cannot tell at a glance the phase of the moon. The moon icons also have a bizarre "halo" around them on the menu bar, I know the reason vaguely but don't remember what it's called in graphic arts jargon.
Fix the icons and you've got a sale. Until then, this menu extra hasn't lived to it's full potential.
