This program has been very helpful for me -- I live thousands of miles away from my parents but they turn to me for computer help, which can be tough to give with the distance. So I set up VNC on their computer and installed IP Reporter to notify me of their external (outside their router) IP address. I also installed a copy on a G4 acting as a server so I can use it as a web & FTP server. Program worked well on both computers for a little while then suddenly stopped aquiring and reporting the external IP on both machines.
Turned out that the preference file was "forgetting" the settings. I did some research and found others with the same problem, but no solution posted anywhere.
My solution: set IP Reporter preferences the way you want, quit, and find the preferences file in ~/library/preferences/, get info on it, and lock the file. Since I did this, the program has been working flawlessly on both machines. Aside from this one issue, however, it is a great program and I've found it very useful.

It does exactly what i need. It works with Panther 10.3.1 and its so simple. You can modify the email so it simply sends you only the IP Adress in the Header (Subject) without anything else. Now i can send my IP Adress to my cell Phone without any cost (because O2 sends you a Message after receiving a mail to your cell phone). Registered after 10 Minutes testing. This is the way software should be, simple, cheap and reliable !!
Anyone curious about updates though should know that after looking through the developer's sites and dead links, etc. the developer actually says, "... Some of them will no longer be updated, but are here for reference and download purposes." IP reporter is listed as one of these so don't anyone hold their breath. He is still collecting $5 for it though (worth it too, even unsupported).
